When i have a bit of down time i like to try something a bit out of the ordinary. The caricatures and the Pertwee Who being two examples. Most of the work i've done this year can't be shown until release time apart from the odd magazine cover. So ...

That's pretty cool. Is the stuff you're posting on here 'just for fun'?

When I first saw this I was reminded of Axel Pressbutton from Warrior. Wonder if he's still trying to get Laser Eraser to press his button?

Hello people.
Been working in the CG industry for the last ten years but hoping to get onto doing a comic project of my own (in a small press capacity) next year. Joined the site to see what's what in the scene again and gain momentum and inspiration from others.

Cheers
Lex

Ah but luckily my wife is still breast feeding so 4 1/2 months, in a couple of nights with expressed milk to give her a break aside, I'm still doing ok... now in a couple of months time I may well be wishing for some late night quality sport...

Still its good fun so far

Thanks for the kind words Alex. This network is pretty new really and only just getting off the ground, so it was nice of the other ning site to say such good things about us. :-)

If and when you get to that point of looking for a publisher just drop me a line at: chebbo@aol.com

all the best

Ok that's cool. With a new baby in the house I rarely get to see films, even on DVD BUT as it goes 'Outpost' is one of the few I've managed to fit in and enjoyed it (funnily enough I've also commented about that somewhere on the 2000ad message board... hmmm no wonder I don't have time for films these days). Intrigued to hear there's going to be a sequel will defo look out for it.

Hi Alex,

A warm welcome to Incoming.
Really love your work. Would be interested in publishing your stuff via my Scar Comics Imprint if ever you's like to do your own thing.

all the best

Wow thats an incredibly kind offer. Genuinely wasn't on the skav but if you do find anything let me know as I'd be nuts to turn it down!

Glad to hear that my whitterings over at the 2000ad board have cheered someone up. That said any praise given was earned, your a talented fella. Also chuffed that it seems the reason you're not working there still is cos you have other work keeping you busy elsewhere.

Fingers crossed when all parties are ready we'll get you back in the Galaxies Greatest.

Can I ask what other stuff your working on these days?

Hello Alex,

Just to explain why I'm here etc I'm the fella that started the thread over at the 2000ad board wondering what you were up to. I'm currently reading the 2000ad from my wilderness years when I stopped reading, roughy 1000 - 1500 and have therefore only just come across your work. I have to say I've absolutely loved it.

Have a horrible feeling I've just read the last of your stuff there this week with the end of Missionary Man 'Goin' South'. Its frankly brillant work and I think Gary Caldwell colours it perfectly.

Anyway when the mighty Emperor, who seems to have omnisense when it comes to comics on the Internet added his news to the thread I thought I'd pop across to have a nosey. I got a little over excited at the prospect of you back in 2000ad which would seem a long way off, if happening at all.

Anyway just thought I'd better raise my head above the parapet and thank you for some truely great art in 2000ad which I've enjoyed a great deal. Especially when seen in the context of much of the art around at that time yours was a refreshing change of both style and content. anyway enough with the creeping.

Oh by the way and not sure if this appropriate to ask but do you know if any of your original art is available for sale anywhere I've failed to find any on my search so far?

Cheers

Well reading the reader's reviews of more recent progs, it is clear that no one likes everything (I bet even Brian Bolland attracts the occasional negative review!!) but it is often the haters who shout the loudest, which can be off-putting. Anyway here is the "whatever happened to Alex Roland?" thread (which turns into the "bring back Alex Roland thread after I reported your return). Recollections are mixed but there has been a positive reception to your Dredd and Mean Machine. So whatever happens it seems folks will be interested to see what you do next.

No problem.

Coincidentally, someone started a thread on the 2000AD message board last month asking if there were any updates on what you were up to now, so I've been able let everyone know you were still around and I'm not the only one who'd like to see you get another shot at Dredd based on those new drawings but something small press is a good way of getting back into the swing of things. There are a lot of folks around who can provide help and advice on just about anything.

Ahhhh sorry, the penny just dropped on who you (sorry I can be a bit slow) - the colour work is seriously impressive and I'd love to see you back on Dredd.
